Welcome to Twickenham for today's Varsity matches. We'll be with you throughout the day to bring you all events as they happen.

Women's Varsity Match: Cambridge 8-5 Oxford (Full time)

Men's Varsity Match: Cambridge 16-38 Oxford (Full time)

That's all from us today on a day of mixed fortunes for Cambridge rugby. Be sure to tune in for next year's coverage

Waldouk praised his “special group of players” as the Dark Blues head towards the podium to receive their medals.

4:56pm Player of the match Ben Ransom: "Cambridge came out flying. We grew into the game well"

4:52pm And that's it! Full time here at Twickenham. It finishes 16-38.

4:47pm No surprises as the player of the match is named as Oxford full-back Ben Ransom who has been truly rampant this afternoon. Cambridge couldn't cope with him.

4:43pm Today's attendance is announced as 21,893. Not bad at all.

4:39pm But Oxford are in no mood to allow Cambridge back into this. They drive forward and score a try of their own as players tire and this game begins to open up. Humberstone scores both the try and the conversion to make it 16-38. Into the final 5 minutes now!

4:36pm And Chris Bell can be relied upon to dispatch the kick from a difficult angle. Cambridge 16-31 Oxford

4:36pm But Cambridge won't be giving up without a fight and they respond with a try of their own. A scrappy ruck in the right-hand corner ends with a try for heavily bandaged Cambridge captain Nick Koster.

Surely he's got to be man of the match

4:33pm Humberstone converts yet again and it's 9-31. Avert your eyes Cambridge fans!

4:32pm And Oxford immediately press home their advantage. Ransom (who else?) pops up on the right wing and finds Dan Barley for his second try of the night. Sumptuous rugby from Oxford who are really enjoying the occasion.

4:31pm Almost an incredible solo try from Ben Ransom there as he jinks in and out of tackles before kicking long and burning the Cambridge defence for pace. He is pulled back by Mike Phillips who is shown a yellow card by Nigel Owens. A long way back for Cambridge now.

4:26pm Cambridge fans streaming for the exit at Twickenham. How much do the Light Blues have left in the tank?

4:25pm Could this be the blow that Finally leaves Cambridge out for the count? Oxford stream forwards and Ben Ransom who has sparkled all day offloads. The flowing move finally finishes with Tom Stileman who dives for the try line on the left wing. Humberstone converts and it's 9-24 with twenty minutes to play.

4:19pm Nothing quite coming off for Cambridge at the moment as Phillips' cross field kick finds Elliot Baines on the wing but he is forced into touch.

It's been a great match so far, hopefully the next 30 minutes are just as good

4:13pm Former England international George Robson has been struggling for a while now and he finally makes way for Oxford. A significant blow for the Dark Blues, that.

4:08pm Cambridge will have to respond quickly if they want to stay in this game and they manage to push Oxford back to the 20-metre line. The ball is dropped though and Oxford are able to clear.

4:07pm Cambridge captain, Nick Koster bleeding quite heavily from under his eye. He's a real warrior but might need to get that seen to soon if the Light Blues are to stand a chance of winning this

4:05pm And Oxford score again! A huge maul from the men in Dark Blue ends with Charlie Pozniak bundling it over the line. Tom Humberstone converts and it's 9-17. Advantage Oxford.

4:05pm The first meaningful action of the half is a Cambridge knock-on. Oxford elect to find touch with the penalty and it is the Dark Blues on the front foot with a line out in front of the 5-metre line.

4:01pm The players are back out and Mike Phillips gets us under way. Here's to another closely fought half of university rugby

3:48pm Despite being the better side for much of the first half, Cambridge go into the break one point behind. All to play for in the second.

3:47pm Try for Oxford! That man Ben Ransom picks it up on the right and dances away from a tackle to leave a clear path for Dan Barley to touch down. Tom Humberstone converts to pull Oxford ahead at the stroke of half time.

3:44pm Ex-Saracens and London Irish full-back Ben Ransom is showing some sharp footwork whenever he picks up the ball for the Dark Blues. He is stopped this time around but Cambridge will have to keep a sharp eye on his runs from deep.

3:41pm Try for Cambridge? No says the TMO as Elliot Baines was just outside the line when the ball went down. Cambridge enjoying all the momentum now and it is brought back for the penalty. Sharpshooter Mike Phillips was never going to miss that. 9-3 to Cambridge here at Twickenham.

Never change, Nigel!

3:29pm And we have an impromptu display of phone torch flashing and Mexican waves in the stands as Oxford finally knock-on to cede a scrum to Cambridge on 5-metres.

3:27pm Oxford looking increasingly dangerous as this half goes on and captain Dom Waldouck is only just held up at the the try line by a desperate Cambridge defensive effort. Oxford scrum on 5-metres.

3:23pm Oxford win the penalty for a high tackle and Tom Humberstone squeezes it inside the posts for the Dark Blues' first points of the afternoon.

3:16pm Cambridge's forward line showing their dominance once again to win a penalty. Mike Phillips converts with aplomb. 6-0 to the good guys.

3:11pm  Cambridge almost sneak through as Jake Hennessey charges onto a bouncing kick. Nigel Owens brings things back for the penalty and Mike Phillips makes no mistake with the conversion. 3-0 Cambridge.

3:07pm Bit of handbags between the Oxford and Cambridge forwards as a series of big hits fly in. Both teams very much up for this!

3:02pm Oxford start us off under the watchful eye of Nigel Owens.

2:58pm Ready for round two? The men's teams are out and it's T-minus two minutes until kick-off. Cambridge's Light Blues will be hoping to replicate the women's success from this morning.

A well deserved win for the Cambridge women, hopefully the men can put in a similarly good performance.

1:26pm That's all from us for now, but we'll be back with you in an hour and a half as we build up to the men's match. Let's hope that the men can complete a double triumph #BattleoftheBlues#ComeonCambridge

1:19pm The Cambridge players now lift their trophy. Jubilant scenes here at Twickenham and a very proud moment for all associated with Cambridge University

1:17pm The dejected Oxford players are now on the pitch receiving their tankards. They should be immensely proud of their efforts today

1:15pm Marks: "I could not be prouder"

1:13pm Player of the match Amelia Miller and captain Kate Marks now speaking to BBC sport as the rest of the team celebrate around them.

1:13pm An enthralling game of rugby and huge credit must go to both sides.  A late rally from Oxford was not enough to save them and Cambridge retain the trophy. What an amazing advert for women's rugby!

1:12pm What a win! In the final seconds, an Oxford player made a late break through the Cambridge defence but was brought into touch by a fantastic recovering tackle.

12:51pm Another excellent run from Gibson, who has been superb for Cambridge today

12:48pm Twenty minutes to play! Oxford fans making themselves heard with defiant chants of "Oxford" and Oxford are still in the game with only an 8 point defence. If Oxford get the next score, it's all to play for!

12:46pm Cambridge replacement: Taylor replaces Elgar

12:45pm What a run from Lara Gibson as she breaks though the Oxford defence, evading several challenges before being brought down 15 metres out. Cambridge really knocking on the door now! Surely only a matter of time before they extend their lead!

12:44pm Farrant is unable to continue and is replaced by Brough

12:42pm Break in the play as the Farrant receives treatment. Stretchers on the pitch - really hope that it's not serious

12:40pm Oxford ringing the changes now as they seek to turn the game around and halt the Cambridge momentum

12:22pm We're away again! Hoping for more of the same this half! Come on Cambridge! #GDBO

12:16pm Half-Time: a hugely entertaining and fast-paced opening half with both sides playing some excellent rugby. Oxford will perhaps feel a little unfortunate to be going into the break behind after dominating for large periods

Cambridge's try courtesy of No.8, Emily Pratt

12:13pm Cambridge withstand the pressure. Oxford looked to go wide from the scrum but it's knocked on in midfield!

12:11pm Oxford held up! Great response from Oxford to the Cambridge try. Big chance to equalise from the 5 metre-scrum!

11:41am Oxford getting into the game now with some slick passing. Best chance of the game as captain Abby D'Cruz latches onto a kick to set Hannah Cooper away. Play called back for the fall as she is stopped just short.

11:35am Sustained early Cambridge pressure breaks down just shy of the 22 after a knock-on. Oxford scrum

11:30am - And we're off! Oxford kick off on Nikki O'Donnell's whistle
