CamFM hoping to set new UK record
Attempt at the longest radio broadcast by a single team has been going for over 50 hours with another 24 hours still to go.
Students at CamFM are attempting to beat the UK reciord for longest ever broadcast in their attempt to raise money for this year’s Children in Need. The record has previously been held by ex-Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and is currently held by SineFM.
The broadcast has now been going for 52 hours since 10 on Wednesday morning. Presenters Ben Weisz (Trinity) and Harry Smy (ARU) are attempting to remain in the studio for the whole 74 hours in order to beat the current 73 hour record. If they make it all the way through they will finish their broadcast at noon on Saturday.
Messages of support have been sent to the station via twitter with Cambridgsehire MP Julian Huppert tweeting: “Congrats again to @camfm972 - new UK record and great fundraising... keep going!”
They have currently raise £1,472.72 of their £5,000.00 target and you can donate at their Justgiving page here.
