Murder investigation launched following Chesterton Road stabbing
The incident occurred just over a mile away from the City centre

Cambridgeshire Constabulary has launched a murder investigation following a stabbing on Chesterton Road, Cambridge, in the early hours of Tuesday morning (25/02).
The police were sent out to investigate the incident, near the intersection with Elizabeth Way, at 1am. Paramedics had attended the scene of the stabbing beforehand.
Cambridgeshire Police said the victim was pronounced dead at 1:18am, within 20 minutes of the incident. The victim has since been named as 58-year-old Granville Graham.
In a statement, Mr Graham’s family said he was a “special soul with an infectious, happy-go-lucky spirit that brightened the lives of everyone around him”.
30-year-old Liam Rush was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at Parkside Police Station, opposite Parker’s Piece. He has since been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (27/02).
A police cordon, officer, and two scientific support unit vans were still pictured at the scene at 4:35pm on Tuesday. The police cordon remained in place on Wednesday morning.
Several Magdalene College student accommodation buildings are located on Chesterton Road, including the College’s Cripps Court. Clare College's newly-renovated postgraduate accommodation,, St Regis, is also located on this road.
The police have launched an appeal for more information about the stabbing.
Detective Inspector Mark Butler, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “I understand this is likely to be concerning to the local community, but we believe it to be an isolated incident.”
“We would like to appeal to anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency,” he continued.
This incident comes after a man sustained “life-threatening” injuries after a stabbing on Nicholson Way, on the outskirts of Cambridge, in October 2024.
