Breaking: Fez Club closes down permanently
Fez is to permanently shut its doors, with no plans to reopen following the end of the national lockdown
Popular Cambridge nightclub, Fez, will not reopen its doors after the national lockdown, it has been announced.
The club has been temporarily closed since March, with the staff who worked at the club having been made redundant in September 2020. A decision was taken not to renew the property when the lease expired last year.
The venue has been listed for rent with a business rate of £28,244.
Eclectic Bars, who owned Fez, are also the owners of Lola Lo nightclub. They have been contacted by Varsity for comment.
During the first national lockdown, Fez Club announced on Twitter that, “we have made the decision to temporarily close our doors [...] until further notice”. They went on to say that they “look forward to welcoming [guests] again in the not too distant future.”
This comes just months after Ballare nightclub, more commonly known as Cindies, announced its permanent closure in November. A new hotel will be built in its place in the city centre.
Elsewhere, Vinyl, which was formerly named Life and owned by the same company as Cindies, has been taken over by “Scandinavia’s Largest Nightlife Group”, Rekom. The company also owns several Pryzm venues in the UK.
