Cambridge Union cancels tomorrow’s Good Morning Britain event
The GMB ‘Brexit Day’ special was set to broadcast from inside the Union with a small number of members in attendance
The Cambridge Union has cancelled its ‘Good Morning Britain’ event, which was set to take place tomorrow on the day the UK leaves the European Union.
In a post on Facebook, the Union stated due to “unforeseen circumstances” the morning show will no longer broadcast from Cambridge, and expressed its “deepest apologies for any inconvenience” this causes its members.
Good Morning Britain airs daily from 6-9am on weekdays on ITV, and is hosted by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
Last week the show received more than 1000 Ofcom complaints after Morgan mimicked the Chinese language in a segment about royal Peter Phillip’s role in a Chinese advertisement for milk.
The Union had stated in its termcard hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid would be in attendance, but on Tuesday announced neither would be present.
A small number of members were set to attend the event.
Good Morning Britain has not yet announced reasons behind the cancellation on social media, and Varsity has reached out to the Union for further comment.
