Which West End show are you?
Jess Gotterson lets you know which tickets are worth a standing ovation before the summer holidays take their final bow

You don’t have to be a triple threat to enjoy what musical theatre has to offer. I, for one, would tremble in the spotlight and swiftly exit stage left, possibly after deafening an audience with my attempts to sing. Regardless, I still find myself enchanted by the undeniable magic of the West End and wishing I was part of a show there. The question is, which one matches your vibe? Are you an audience favourite ending in a standing ovation every time, or a risky new retelling of a timeless classic? Take our quiz to find out, and, what are you waiting for? Use the rest of your summer holidays to go and book those tickets!

If you picked mostly As:
You’re Moulin Rouge! You belong in the glittering, glitzy, romantic streets of Paris. A firm believer in love that defies all odds, the passionate love story of Satine and Christian – threatened by wealth, power and society – draws you in. You glow with confidence, and enjoy all things bold and dramatic, just like the show’s iconic red lighting. You adore old tales told with modern twists, especially when your favourite artists (David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Elton John and Christina Aguilera) are involved.
If you picked mostly Bs:
You’re & Juliet! Full of energy and fun, you’re likely a dedicated Shakespeare lover (bonus points if you study English) so you simply have to watch Juliet…survive? That’s right, she doesn’t die! You’re a strong believer in second chances, and the show offers her that second chance. You are unapologetically you, and this love story reimagined allows Juliet to live her life her own way, accompanied by icons Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson.
If you picked mostly Cs:
You’re The Lion King! You’re nostalgic, family-orientated and love reliving your childhood favourites. Visually, a show must impress and captivate you entirely. Animal lovers unite; the breathtaking creativity of the masks and costumes blend human form with animal form and transport an audience member straight into the savannah.
If you picked mostly Ds:
You’re Back to the Future! You should have been born in the 80s, and spend most of your time wishing you were: the neon lights, retro vibes and skateboards are your kind of thing. Maybe you study a STEM subject and prefer science to the arts, horrified at the idea of possibly enjoying musical theatre, but this show will prove you wrong. Scientific experiments and time-travel adventures – what’s not to love?
If you picked mostly Es:
You’re Matilda! You were a clever, curious and cheeky (often naughty) child who has always enjoyed pushing the boundaries and outsmarting grown-ups. If you have always dreamt of achieving big things – like a place at Cambridge – Matilda is the perfect show for you, especially for the Roald Dahl fans out there. Maybe you were a theatre kid yourself, or just inspired by the young performers who light up the stage with their talent.
