Ex-CURUFC captain and Aussie lock Dan Vickerman dies
The former Light Blues rugby captain has died at 37

Former Light Blues rugby captain Dan Vickerman, who played 63 Tests for Australia, has died at the age of 37.
Vickerman represented the Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC) in their Varsity match defeat in 2008, before skippering the Light Blues to victory the following season at Twickenham.
“Alumni and supporters will remember Dan as an uncompromising and inspiring leader, who was absolutely central to the 2009 Varsity Match success,” a CURUFC statement read.

“In addition to this, Dan also worked tirelessly to improve standards throughout the club during his three years in Cambridge and he was extremely generous when working with younger players. We offer our deepest condolences to Dan's family and former teammates at this very difficult time.”
After seven years playing in Australia, Vickerman left to study at Cambridge, where he read Land Economy at Hughes Hall. He retired from the game in 2012.
The South Africa-born lock died at his family home in Sydney on Saturday. The cause of death is currently undisclosed
