RAG ‘Once Upon a Blind Date’ video released
Promotional video released for RAG blind date
A video has been released by Raising and Giving (RAG) Cambridge to promote their upcoming event 'RAG Blind Date 2015'.
The video, entitled, 'Once Upon a Blind Date', charts the journey of various Cantabs as they run round the city losing and retrieving shoes until they are reunited with their footwear, and their one true love.
The video was directed by Lucy Pickworth and edited by Bennie Tucker.
RAG Blind Date is a yearly charity event in Cambridge in which participants purchase a form from a RAG Representative, fill it in, and are paired 'blindly' with another student for a date.
However, students can 'bribe' their College RAG Representatives for a date with particular attributes, such as height, academic subject or sporting prowess.
This year's event will take place on Tuesday 3rd February.
Not all RAG blind dates have ended in blissful matrimony, however, as the bribing system has left some damsels in distress.
One second year from Murray Edwards, who chose not to be identified, said: "I bribed for a rower last year, but ended up with a cox."
One unidentified student from Trinity Hall bribed for someone tall in their fresher year, but was instead paired with a 28-year-old postgrad.
"He was only 5'7", as well," she lamented.
The Facebook event reminds viewers that "There is one week more to source a form from your Kingdom (college) Rep, and return it by Friday 30th, ready for the Royal Date Night of February 3rd."
Cambridge RAG is supporting a wide range of charities this year. Locally-based foundations include; Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC), Food Cycle, Jimmy's Night Shelter, Student Minds Cambridge and the Teenage Cancer Trust. On a national and international level, Cambridge RAG is supporting Against Malaria Foundation, Make a Wish, Save the Children, Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) and War Child.
