Fans of Led Zeppelin will have a whole lotta love for the freshly released 2012 New Music series at Kettle’s Yard, with legendary bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones taking top billing: with his original operatic work.

Jones in performance

The 20th May will see Jones, also a member of the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, appearing for an interview and gig which will feature both his recently composed ‘Co-Motion’, with one arrangement for winds and guitar and another for strings and keyboards. Other original work and a performance of the classic Zeppelin track ‘Black Dog’ will also be on the agenda.

Jones forms part of a highly diverse programme of music balanced between original works and renditions of others’ pieces, as well as a number of notable premieres. Kettle’s Yard will be graced by acts ranging from Youtuba, a four piece tuba ensemble whose performance is intriguingly entitled “Tuba Bears’ Picnic”, and Ensemble Bash who will be performing a Prokofiev premiere using only percussion.

The injection of such a household name into an already highly promising line up will hopefully up publicity for what promises to be an extremely exciting series of events, as well as a highly worthwhile and innovative advert for the already bustling Cambridge music scene.
