Apply to be Varsity‘s Editor-in-Chief this Michaelmas
Applications to lead the paper are open until Thursday 4 June
Applications to be Varsity’s Editor-in-Chief for Michaelmas Term are now open.
This is your opportunity to lead the team at Cambridge’s oldest and only independent student newspaper, shedding light on the student experience and keeping the Cambridge community informed. You have the chance to appoint and organise your own team, develop their talents, and work on impactful stories which shape discussion.
You will manage a large team producing online content throughout the term as well as Varsity’s fortnightly print copy.
Applications can be made alone or as a pair. No previous experience at Varsity is required for the role. All students who are passionate about journalism, and have creative direction for the paper’s print editions, are encouraged to apply.
Instructions on how to apply can be found here. The deadline for applications is 12pm on Thursday 4th June 2026.
If you have any general questions about the application process, please contact Wilf Vall (VarSoc President) at president@varsity.co.uk, and if you have additional questions about the role of Editor, please contact the current Editor, Ell Heeps, at editor@varsity.co.uk.
Applications for other roles on the Michaelmas team will open once the Editor has been appointed.
