Heidi Chen elected new SU Women’s Officer
The by-election took place following Milo-Eyre Morgan’s resignation from the role
Heidi Chen has been elected Cambridge SU’s new women’s officer, following yesterday’s uncontested by-election (03/02).
Chen won in the first stage of the election, winning 109 votes, while 72 voters opted to re-open nominations.
Chen, a postgraduate student at the University’s Judge Business School, will serve until the end of this academic year.
At an online hustings on Wednesday (02/02), Chen spoke about her previous experience in similar roles, including as women’s congressor during her undergraduate studies at National Taiwan University.
She said that she was “very supportive” of all students who identify as women, and that feedback from students is “always welcome”.
The result will remain provisional pending approval from the SU’s democracy committee, and until after the deadline for election complaints has passed.
The by-election took place after the former Women’s Officer, Milo-Eyre Morgan, stepped down from the role in January.
