May Week horoscopes
Alex Brian looks to the stars to help you navigate this whirlwind week
May Week can be a lot to handle. From being kicked out of your room for May Balls, to facing the unanswered questions in your future, the Week poses many more challenges than just sleep deprivation. Thankfully, the stars are here to help. As the period of Cancer begins, surely it is time to look out for one another amid the chaos of balls, bops, and goodbyes.
Aries (21 March – 20 April)
May Week will see both the creative Neptune and the responsible Saturn enter your region of the sky. You may find yourself conflicted between maintaining discipline and letting your imagination run free. Lean on those around you to strike the right balance, and ensure your celebrations don’t land you in Addenbrooke’s.
Taurus (21 April – 21 May)
With Mars in Taurus, your patience and determination will shine amid even the fiercest of conflicts. Whether it be negotiating with a porter to continue your end-of-year festivities, or attempting to graduate without paying that £2 library fine, there has never been a better time to stand up for yourself.
Gemini (22 May – 21 June)
The stars are on your side if you attempt to break into a May Ball. While Varsity cannot condone such behaviour, we can only imagine you have already concocted some hair-brained scheme. If not, perhaps inspiration will strike at the last minute, as the rebellious Uranus enters your area of the zodiac.
Cancer (22 June – 23 July)
It is surely significant that the start of May Week is also the start of Cancer: one way or another, this will be a pivotal period for you. With Mercury entering your sign, the time is ripe to be honest about your emotions. Is there something you have been meaning to tell someone before the term is over?
Leo (24 July – 23 August)
The Cambridge year may be ending, but for Leos, this week could be the start of something thrilling and new. Venus and Jupiter have come to visit you, just as endless parties, balls, and open-air plays provide ample opportunity for striking up friendships, partnerships in crime, or perhaps something more…
Virgo (24 August – 23 September)
You may be known for your ruthless practicality, but this attribute will serve you better at the start of the week. As the Moon moves from Libra to Scorpio and then Sagittarius, your diligence is likely to wane. Leaving packing until late is therefore ill-advised, unless you wish to incur the wrath of multiple college staff and/or family members.
Libra (24 September – 23 October)
Exam term is a brittle time for relationships. Perhaps you shut yourself in your room for a month and angered all your friends, or succumbed to jealousy over your college sibling’s insane ability to lock in. Whatever the issue, fear not. When the Moon enters Libra, your natural charm and diplomacy will return and help you heal those painful divisions.
Scorpio (24 October – 22 November)
Who needs May Balls when for the same price you could book yourself an impromptu trip, learn to paraglide, or purchase a didgeridoo? With the Moon in Scorpio, it’s time to trust your instincts and be spontaneous. Ignore the doubters and try something new.
Sagittarius (23 November – 21 December)
Help! The end of term has raised some scary questions: What will I do with myself for the next four months? What papers should I take next year? Will I be eternally unemployed? Well, perhaps the stars will provide you with inspiration. The Moon entering Sagittarius later in the week may help put things into perspective and give you some much-needed optimism for the future.
Capricorn (22 December – 20 January)
Capricorns are known for their patience, responsibility, and ambition. Combine that with the Sun being in Cancer and it’s safe to say you have a fair chance of reaching Survivors’ this year. Just don’t be too disappointed when your only reward is appearing as a single pixel in a late Instagram post.
Aquarius (21 January – 19 February)
For you, May Week will be a time of reflection. Pluto is moving in retrograde through Aquarius, bringing with it meditations on a year of power struggles. Did that society election really merit such bitter disagreements? Can you finally reconcile with your tripos rival? Could a simple text have resolved your war of attrition over fridge space? Only time will tell.
Pisces (20 February – 20 March)
Nature is where you should be spending your May Week: picnicking in Grantchester Meadows, running through Jesus Green, or cycling to Stourbridge Common. The Sun being in Cancer will only enhance your gentleness and compassion, motivating a desire to remove yourself from the furore of college life and reembrace the simple things.
