Varsity goes behind-the-scenes and unveils the planning required to hold a virtual event of unprecedented scale

Talking to the Mega Event committee, they reveal how they organised such an event simply through zoom meetings, without ever meeting each other in person. They also reveal the importance they placed on involving everybody in the Cambridge community, from porters to tutors, masters to catering staff and students to alumni.

In addition, Varsity previews thee acts on the night, and asks the committee which segment of the Mega Event they are most looking forward to.

Varsity is the independent newspaper for the University of Cambridge, established in its current form in 1947. In order to maintain our editorial independence, our print newspaper and news website receives no funding from the University of Cambridge or its constituent Colleges.
