Possible Banksy sighted in Cambridge
If confirmed as a true Banksy, this would be Cambridgeshire’s first piece of graffiti by the elusive artist

A new graffiti painting in central Cambridge has attracted speculation, with some saying it could be a Banksy.
The artwork, which depicts a boy bending over backwards with his arms splayed and knees bent, is in the style of the anonymous street artist, famous for his satirical and subversive graffiti.
The piece was first sighted on Wulfstan Way early on Thursday morning (01/02), by Cambridge local Scott Reid who spotted the work while on the school run.
Reid told Cambridgeshire Live: “I can’t say for certain, but it may have been there overnight. I’m a big fan of Banksy, so when I spotted the unusual image, I was really fascinated.”
“I haven’t seen a huge amount of people talking about it yet, but I think that may be because it’s a fresh image,” he continued.
While Cambridge may seem to be an unusual choice for the globally recognised street artist to exhibit new work, Reid pointed out that “everything I’ve looked into suggests that Banksy artwork appears in areas with no cameras, which this street does not have.”
“I don’t know if there are any Banksy areas in the city so it would be interesting if that turns out true,” he added.
No genuine Banksys are known to have been spotted in the area, meaning that if the artist confirms its authenticity, this would be the first of its kind to be found in Cambridge, as well as the latest image created by the artist.
The street artist’s most recent artwork, which featured three drones on a traffic stop sign in South London, was stolen less than an hour after it had been confirmed as genuine back in December of last year.
