Halfway Hall playlist

Whether you’re a second year or are lucky enough to know one, Halfway Hall is the time to reflect on a year and a half of memories and look forward to the rest. Don’t fret: as always, Varsity Music has got you covered.
Sure, this is Cambridge, but however mature you pretend to be, we’re all still students … for now. What better way to celebrate than with your finest school disco anthems? Now is the time to blast ‘Angels’, ‘Jerk It Out’, and ‘You Get What You Give’ shame-free. You’re halfway there, it’s time to live on a prayer… and a playlist.
“You’re halfway there, it’s time to live on a prayer”
Of course, Halfway Hall isn’t just Britpop and getting hammered with formal wine – it’s bittersweet. Lorde’s ‘Secrets from a Girl (Who’s Seen it All)’ is a perfect fit, sweet and tender enough to remind you that there’s still time – so what if you haven’t been to Kiki’s, you’ve got a year and a half left! If you’re more of the boot-slappin’ persuasion, Beyonce’s ‘AMERIICAN REQUIEM' has your back. Whether you scored Cowboy Carter tickets or not, there’s something extremely cathartic about this opening track. Alanis Morisette’s ‘You Learn’ and Bowie’s ‘Changes’ are solid shouts here, too.

If you’re looking for some comforting nostalgia, nothing beats the early noughties. Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’ is popular for a reason, addictively upbeat and uplifting. Pair that with KT Tunstall’s ‘Suddenly I See’, another classic, and you’ve got a party. Keeping with the feel-good tunes, we’d be remiss not to mention Talking Heads: ‘Once in a Lifetime’ and ‘And She Was’ should be, if they’re not already, top of your Spotify queue.
Now, it’s time to relax, let down your hair, and boogie with your pals. There’s only one Halfway Hall – enjoy it in style.
