‘Sweet Lovin’ Sigala to headline St John’s May Ball

The major announcement comes with six days to go before May Week

With less than a week to go before the biggest and most extravagant week of the social calendar in Cambridge, St John’s have once again stolen the show by announcing Sigala as their headline act.

“The man behind 2015 smash hits ‘Easy Love’ and ‘Sweet Lovin’ will hit pause on his appearances at music festivals”

The East Anglia-born DJ and record producer will star at their showpiece event, the St John’s May Ball Committee revealed on Facebook: “It’s finally time for the big reveal! We are thrilled to announce that our Ball headliner this year is... SIGALA,” it said. “Sigala’s infectious beats and incredible stage setup promise a show you’ll never forget.”

Sigala has become a fixture on the airwaves since his breakthrough debut album, as well as producing collaborations with notable names including John Newman, Nile Rogers and Hailee Steinfeld.

Supporting Sigala will be Zak Abel, another homegrown performer and recent arrival onto the scene. His signature blend of R&B and pop sounds will be a strong complement to Sigala’s upbeat style.

Once named the seventh-best party in the world by Time magazine and branded a “decadent” affair by the Daily Mail, news of St John’s May Ball resurfaced this year when the Conservators of the River Cam banned private hire punts from sections of the river near the college for Ball Night, which will take place on the Tuesday of May Week
