CUSU campaign hits Sidgwick
Roadshow goes ahead, despite Elections Committee member oversleeping

Several CUSU election candidates turned out to campaign at the Sidgwick site today, despite rain, wind and even snow.
The day also saw CUSU’s elections committee arrive to present manifestos to students at the site. The Elections Committee did not arrive until 11:30, and confirmed to Varsity that this was because one member overslept.
The first candidates to arrive were presidential candidate Angus Satow, and University Councillor candidate Josh Jackson.
Facing strong winds, Satow set up a table outside the History Faculty, and proceeded to hand out flyers and speak to the students who were passing by.
Jackson’s campaigning technique was a little different – in conversations heard by Varsity, he frequently referred to himself in the third-person.

The Elections Committee arrived shortly before noon, and had set up their board, which featured candidates’ manifestos, by quarter to twelve. By 12:30 their position under the Raised Faculty building had been vacated, and it was confirmed by a member of Elections Committee that they had left.
As time went on, more candidates arrived: Varsity spoke to other University Councillor candidates Umang Khandelwal and Jon Wall, Women’s Officer candidates Connie Muttock and Audrey Sebatindira, and Welfare candidate Sophie Buck.

Most candidates handed out flyers near the lecture block or Law Faculty, though once it began to rain heavily most moved indoors.
Many of the students Varsity spoke to said that they had already voted, with others saying that they had no intention of doing so.

Presidential candidate Amatey Doku was seen heading towards the lecture block, and some members of his team were seen handing out flyers.
Voting is open until 19:00 on Thursday.
