Cambridge Union to host Robert De Niro
Teased as this term’s ‘mystery guest’, De Niro will speak in the chamber this Sunday

The Cambridge Union will host Robert De Niro at an undisclosed time this Sunday (27/2).
De Niro is an acclaimed American actor, producer, and director. The news was revealed following teasers on the society’s social media channels.
Stardom followed for De Niro after his portrayal of young Vito Corleone in Coppola’s crime thriller The Godfather part II. He is also famous for playing Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver and a soldier in the Vietnam War drama The Deer Hunter.
De Niro has won two Oscars and received a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull. In 2016 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by then president Barack Obama.
The Union said on Twitter that they were “ecstatic” to welcome him to the chamber on Sunday. The event is open to members only, who have been told to arrive well in advance to avoid disappointment.
