Last night, the very best of cinema was celebrated at the Oscar Awards 2019. The highlight of awards season every year, the Academy Awards are also known for providing the backdrop to some breathtaking fashion moments on the red carpet, and this year did not disappoint. From some 128.54 carat diamonds to candy pink gowns and the already-iconic tuxedo-cum-dress sported by the ever-cool Billy Porter, take a look at some of the best dressed celebrities to grace the red carpet.

Lady Gaga brought the wow-factor: not just in her beautiful rendition of 'Shallow' with Bradley Cooper, but also in her structural Alexander McQueen gown. She was also lucky enough to wear the 128.54 carat Tiffany diamond, last worn by none other than Audrey Hepburn.

Lupti Nyongo opted for a fluffy Oscar de la Renta number for the Vanity Fair after party. A fun white number sure to ruffle some feathers.

Another of the night's winners, Olivia Colman was the epitome of elegance in her moss green custom Prada gown, as styled by Kara Welch.

Henry Golding looked dapper as usual in his Ralph Lauren Purple Lable tux and slicked back hair.

The iconic Angela Basset left went all-in with this bright pink, one-shouldered Reem Acra gown. Not one for the faint-hearted, her fierce smoulder was the perfect finishing touch.

Billy Porter undoubtedly stole the limelight as he calmly and cooly paraded down the carpet in this Christian Siriano tuxedo gown. Radiant.

Glenn Close was a vision in this celestial gold Carolina Herrera gown and cape.  Majestic and elegant, it was the perfect for such acting royalty.

Zoe Kravitz opted for a stunning YSL ensemble for the Vanity Fair after party. Leaving little to the imagination, the sweeping skirt rested in an understated contrast with a fine gold bralet.

Best dressed couple undoubtedly goes to Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet, who matched in their powder-pink Fendi ensembles.

Spike Lee, winner of best director for 'BlaKkKlansman', opted for an all-purple ensemble, finished off with some gold Nike Air Jordan 3s.

Gemma Chan was another to opt for a candy pink shade. Statuesque in her Valentino gown, the 'Crazy Rich Asians' star was the picture of serenity (probably thanks to those pockets).

Sarah Paulson took this shade a little deeper and chose a raspberry pink Brandon Maxwell gown. Matching Chan's Valentino number in volume, the waistline cut-outs made for a highly polished ensemble.

To conclude our rundown, Danai Gurira stunned in this textured gold Brock Collection look, which was finished off with cascading braids and delicate gold headbands.
