Vulture’s Christmas party guide for her
Yuletide festivities are in full swing, so let Varsity Fashion point you in the right direction this party season. Pia Rose Scattergood has the lowdown on all the latest trends and high street bargains
Last minute fashion crisis? Don’t panic – everyone can sparkle this Christmas, whatever the budget. Major retailers are slashing prices by up to 80% in the hope of triggering a Christmas spending binge on the high street, so be sure to take advantage of the many bargains to be found. Here are some festive, on trend picks that will leave you looking fabulously #instaworthy.
Fully embrace the Christmas spirit and adorn yourself with lavish sparkles in seasonal hues of gold, silver and emerald green.
Quirky and fun, this combination meets all budgets and fits all sizes.
The GABBY x QUIZ edit showcases a collection of seriously glamorous party pieces and bodycon dresses for the ultimate sexy silhouette. Choose from shimmering metals, velvets and opulent jewel tones.
The all-over glitter pattern of this dress is extremely festive and the asymmetric hemline, wrap design and plunge neckline flatters a curvy figure.
This celeb summer favourite is still very much at the forefront of high-street fashion. At half price, this dress is an absolute steal and can comfortably fit a skinny ribbed/roll-neck jumper underneath.
It’s not all about the sequins though… metallics are steadfast on the Christmas party circuit, and styles range from the retro vibes of 1980’s disco to the wacky futuristic trends paraded on the catwalk.
Dress this top up or down with black culottes, flared trousers or black jeans.
This pleated midi skirt is ultra feminine and flexible. Add style to your favourite Christmas jumper, a simple white T-shirt or a pastel pink roll-neck and chunky necklace.
Spice up a formal affair with this retro twist on the tailored cigarette trouser and a black polo neck or flirty bralette.
A black, strapped heel or ankle boot is a failsafe option when it comes to party outfits, but for those who prefer a night dancing in comfort, a metallic trainer with glitter and embellishments is a funky alternative to heels.
Fashion need not be so bewildering though; for those still hooked on black, liven up the classic LBD with feathers or a pop of colour:
(Bag, Heels, Peach Earrings, Green Earrings)
This Christmas, it’s all about the smoky eye and the bold lip. I have taken my inspiration from Christian Dior’s Precious Rocks Holiday Collection, which includes a matte version of the House’s iconic shade: rouge 999.
Drugstore brands have released plenty of dupes to this shade but I recommend both the Rimmel Kate Lipstick in #1 and Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice, retailing at £5.49 and £7.99 respectively.
For a more vampy look, the NYX Liquid Suede Metallic Matte is incredible value for money and will add instant dimension and sass to your outfit.
While a Morphe or Naked palette may be a worthwhile investment, the Rimmel London Magnif’eyes palettes are equally eye-catching and have an array of beautiful shimmer shades perfect for the ultimate holiday glam transformation.
Reimagine the classic smoky eye using a glitter gel liner, such as the Urban Decay Heavy Metal range.
Whatever the time or place, dare to be adventurous, and embrace your inner fashionista
