Trinity May Ball have announced their musical headline acts for this year, with Charli XCX DJ set and Barely Royal set to star on the main stage.

The bona fide pop star and underground mix-maker form a pairing aimed to accommodate diverse tastes, Violet can exclusively reveal.

“We are thrilled to have such exciting acts take to our main stage,” said Trinity May Ball co-presidents, Raniyah Qureshi and Alex Butcher. “We think that this will contribute to what we hope will be a night to remember for all attendees.”

Cambridge-born Charli XCX will return to her home city from recent gigs in New York, bringing her Britney-esque electro-dance-pop to the oldest May Ball in town.

Arriving on the scene with the critically-revered True Romance in 2013, the hit songwriter has slayed the radio with tracks such as ‘You (Ha Ha Ha)’ and ‘Nuclear Seasons’, and collaborations with Iggy Azalea, Selena Gomez and James Blunt.

Working with his friend and producer Bunnie, Barely Royal incorporates a live band with luscious pads and vocals, performing in notable venues such as London’s Fabric.

The Trinity May Ball, which celebrated its 150th Anniversary last year with appearances from Nothing But Thieves and Sigma, reprises its traditional slot on the Monday of May Week, 19th June. The event is famous for its astronomical budget, spent on a fireworks display, champagne and oysters
