Varsity Verse: Cambridge, Summer
Violet‘s mysterious poet-in-residence takes us on a journey through the seasons

I love the summer sunsets,
Rosy brushstrokes streaked across the sky,
And th'evening chorus calling out in wonder
Across the city.
The tree branches now heaving with their leaves,
The deepening mass of grass beneath my feet,
The glittering sunrays glinting off the Cam
As we stroll over the stone to buttery;
Creeping boughs of wisteria,
Hanging like grape vines over dusty walls
A lilac blur on chalky brick.
Leafing through novels in the long afternoons,
Lying with my head on the lawn;
I wish it would last forever, this breezy life,
But it's torn from us too soon
By the death groans of the falling Autumn leaves
