Paws for thought: Jasper has been helping students to unwindMarshall Library

Not content with idly purr-using the Fur-nancial Times, the Marshall Library of Economics’ resident feline, Jasper, recently helped students to de-stress and unwind as they helped themselves to tea and biscuits.

“Tea with Jasper” attracted over a hundred visitors, many of whom reported feline far calmer and relaxed. Due to the high demand more events are now on the way, meaning more students will get the chance to swap Asian Tigers for the ginger tom.

Jasper belongs to the Marshall’s deputy librarian, Simon Frost, and has become the face of the economics library, even taking to Twitter to urge students to post their feedback and suggestions in a box bearing his likeness.

Like the stools that gave the Cambridge Tripos its name, Jasper only has three legs – the result of a car accident – and was abandoned before being adopted by Frost. Despite this, he now lithely patrols the library aisles.

Following his recent rise to fame, Jasper joins Cambridge’s burgeoning class of kitterati. While Pembroke and John’s both have college cats, named Millie and Miss Pearl, respectively, the crown for the University’s most pampered puss goes to Girton College’s Buster.

Boasting a portrait in the porters’ lodge and a bed in the development office, Buster even has his own line of merchandise, which is available for purchase on the College’s website. However, with the Moore Library predicting big things for Jasper, Buster’s time in the spotlight may be up
