Milo Yiannopoulos calls on Cambridge students to help Donald Trump “Build the Wall”

The far-right former Wolfson undergraduate has urged students at his former college to give “Daddy” President a head start on his pledge.

Far-right journalist Milo Yiannopoulos tried to target Cambridge students at Wolfson College to support Donald Trump’s plan for a US-Mexico border wall, Violet can reveal.

The Trump devotee, who studied English at Cambridge for two years, wrote to his former college in an attempt to drum up backing for “a head start” on the controversial project.

“Though Wolfson promotes free speech, this isn’t something that Wolfson members look for from our mailing list.”

Embedded in a message to the Wolfson mailing list was a video entitled ‘MILO and Crew Build the Wall’, taken from the über-conservative Breitbart News where Yiannopoulos works as technology editor.

“Even Daddy isn’t totally immune from public sector bureaucracy and delays. So we’re giving him a head start!” Yiannopoulos claimed.

The email will not reach the inbox of Wolfson students as would usually be the case, its JCR and MCR President Justin Yang has confirmed.

WCSA President Justin Yang received the request

“Moderating the Wolfson mailing lists is usually a pretty mundane task,” he said. “It was pretty surprising to see Milo’s name as I was checking my morning emails. I had to do a double-take to make sure it was really him.”

“Though Wolfson promotes free speech, this isn’t something that Wolfson members look for from our mailing list. And anyway, it seems that Milo probably just emailed his whole contact list so, no, I’m not going to approve it.”

This is far from the first time Yiannopoulos, who left Wolfson on acrimonious terms in 2010, has sparked contention in Cambridge.

Despite a productive first few terms, he admits to have been asked to leave during his second year. “They threw me out after repeated warnings for the ridiculously trivial reason that I didn’t show up to supervisions, didn’t submit any essays and spent most of my time shagging and drinking instead of reading medieval literature,” Yiannopoulos explained.

The Wolfson College Students’ Association (WCSA) was required to set up a new Facebook page to prevent Yiannopoulos from posting as an admin, having been Ents Officer.

Twitter banned him last year for what the company described as “inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others”.

Yiannopoulos gained notoriety around Cambridge for his self-centered theatre reviews for lifestyle blog The Tab, as well as a run-in with the actor Stephen Fry, who described him as a “cynical ignorant fucker.”
