Women’s Lacrosse off to a winning start
The women’s lacrosse teams got their season off to a great start with two impressive wins

With both the Blues and Kingies teams having big first games against Bristol and Birmingham respectively, the pressure was on to begin the season on a high. And they did not disappoint. Having narrowly lost their game to Bristol at the end of last season, the Blues were looking to get back on equal terms. Captain Sophie Morrill led from the front by opening the scoring sheet, followed by Chesca Hirst, Katie Lehovsky and Lara Pleydell-Bouverie, meaning at half-time the Light Blues led 6-2. Keen to pull the game back, Bristol started the second-half strongly bringing the score back towards their favour by 2 goals. Cambridge weren’t going to go down without a fight though, and stoic defence ensured that Bristol did not take the lead. With the final score of 8-6 in the Blues’ favour, Cambridge had shown what they can bring in the BUCS league this year. Equally confidence boosting was the impressive performance of the Kingies team, where the new faces came into great effect. By half time, Cambridge had a clear lead of 13-1, with Emilie Delacave, Emma Shearer and Emma Walsh tallying up multiple goals each. Birmingham tried to fight back in the second half, however the Kingies were too strong, and the game ended with a most assured result of 25-1.
