Successful water polo trip to Cardiff
Cambridge women thrash Cardiff 31-7 and Cardiff Met 21-1

The women of Cambridge University Swimming and Water Polo Club (CUSWPC) travelled down to Cardiff on a bleak January day in their quest to top the BUCS premier south division. After a tough game against Birmingham last weekend, and with playoffs in their sights, the two matches would be pivotal in the standings.
Cambridge rocketed out of the starting gates, scoring 5 goals in the first quarter against Cardiff Met, scoring 52 goals in 56 minutes over the two matches (played back to back).
Tamsin Owen was voted players' player for a very strong performance in pit attack, scoring 7 goals overall. Other highlights included novice Macarena Machimbarrena scoring 5 goals in the 3rd quarter against Cardiff Met, Becky Wetten's seven counter attacks and outstanding shot from the post, and Captain Fran Brandon getting protective; Cardiff's number four spent much of the fourth quarter being dunked under water after clawing three Cambridge players in the face.
Cambridge's defensive scoreline was a credit to goalie Beth Eastwood, to the watertight press the team was able to apply, and to effective pit defense from Anna Sutcliffe, Alex Kellaway and Jacqui Gilbert.
Cambridge now stand at the top of the Southern Premiership, and can bypass the knockout round for a guaranteed place in the semi-finals on the 15th of March.
