Cam FM has been nominated for three awards at this year’s Student Radio Awards, run by the Student Radio Association. In particular, they’ve been nominated for the coveted Best Student Station Award, which places them among the top six student radio stations in the country. They’ve also been nominated for Best Live Event or Outside Broadcast for their coverage of the May Bumps and Best Speech Programming for The Fo’ Show.

Since the start of Michaelmas term, CamFM has already broadcast a Fresher’s Arrival Weekend full of tips for incoming students and interviews with teary parents, and championed the UK on International Student Radio Day, beating their Swedish student radio opposites in a University Challenge style quiz.

Speaking before the broadcast Station Manager Ben Weisz said, “This is a fantastic opportunity to show the world how fantastic British radio is, and what Cam FM has achieved in the last few years. We can't wait to fly the flag, and celebrate the best of student radio!"

CamFM have also been reporting from outside Cambridge this year after a busy summer where they sent a correspondent to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to cover the Cambridge comedy shows there. Looking ahead they will also be broadcasting live from both the Varsity Rugby at Twickenham and, even further afield, from Van Thorens where they will be covering the 2012 Varsity Ski Trip from the ski slopes themselves. CamFM broadcasts daily from 8am to 12am with a wide variety of music, news, drama, sport, and comedy pieces.

The awards ceremony is taking place on Thursday 8th November at IndigO2 London with the ceremony being hosted by Nick Grimshaw – the new host of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show - and Dave Berry – co-presenter of the Capital Breakfast Show for Capital London.
