Update: 3pm

All three of the evacuated sites at Clare have now been reopened and Hughes Hall, which was also included in the original bomb scare, has been cleared as well. A full security sweep of the area was carried out by the police but nothing suspicious has been found at either site.

The University has also confirmed that, like yesterday's scare at the New Museums site, the alert was a false alarm. The origin of the scare came after email traffic was spotted by the University Security Control Centre suggesting a possible security threat at either Clare or Hughes Hall.

There has been no information released linking today's scare to the one which took place yesterday, although two bomb scares in two days is likely to raise suspicion that the two false alarms were related.

There has been a second bomb scare in two days in Cambridge. This time it appears to be centered on Clare College where students have been evacuated from the college. The first reports of a bomb scare emerged around 10.30am and the sirens were still sounding an hour later, warning students not to return to the building.

This comes directly after another bomb scare at the New Museums site yesterday which was later confirmed to have been a hoax. It is currently unclear as to whether today's evacuation is also a false alarm or something more serious.

There have been an increasing number of evacuations on university campuses recently besides the incidents in Cambridge with Bristol, Durham and UCL, also having evacuations at the end of April this year amongst similar circumstances.
