Women warned to stay vigilant as sexual attacker remains at large
University of Cambridge students have been advised to take extra care at night as the perpetrator of a series of sexual attacks remains at large

Women have been advised to take extra caution at night as a sexual attacker remains at large in Cambridge.
After a series of incidents, occurring between 30th August 2010 and 28th May 2011, the perpetrator is yet to be found.
Attacks have involved women being grabbed by a man from behind and assaulted over their clothes, usually whilst walking alone at night.
An estimated eight women have been victims of these attacks, which were dubbed by Det Sgt Phil Priestley ‘disturbing and deeply unpleasant incidents’.
Cambridgeshire Police have created an e-fit of the perpetrator, who is described as white, aged between 20 and 30 and between 5ft 10in (1.7m) and 6ft (1.8m). He is thought to have short dark hair and stubble, and be wearing a black jacket over a grey hoodie.
Local police have advised women to take ‘common sense precautions’, to be aware of when it gets dark (especially after the clocks go back at the end of the month), not to walk alone at night and to stick to well-lit areas.
The University are also providing attack alarms, and many colleges are running a ‘taxi service’, whereby a cash-free taxi home can be arranged as a last resort.
Members of the public who may have any information on the attacks are asked to contact Operation Majesty on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
