Issy McCann bravely steps forward as our first victim of the term. And stepping forward in sandals as bad as hers, I’m sure everyone is breathing a sigh of relief that she did. A quick look at the rest of Issy and we realised that absolutely everything she was wearing had to go the same way as the shoes… straight into the bin.

Horizontal stripes are never slimming, so we traded Issy’s manky T-shirt for a simple pink vest. Block colours streamline and flatter a curvier shape, while the deep V of the black cardigan (stylists’ own) gives Issy a subtle yet stylish décolletage. We set the cardigan off nicely with a sparkly pink brooch (also stylists’ own).

If you’re lucky enough to be the owner of a pair of whoppingly mahussive melons like Issy, invest in a good bra (or, alternatively, use bulldog clips to lift them up, like we did) – nobody likes a pair of saggay tittays. Find your best features – Issy has a classic hour-glass figure with a slim waistline, but she was making sure no-one saw any of it in that baggy T-shirt. We accentuated her curves with a smart pink belt and elongated her shapely legs by popping her into a pair of high heels and choosing a skirt that stops at the most flattering point (just above the knee). These funky, perspex-heeled shoes from Karen Millen are a little pricey at £150 but a good pair of shoes will instantly sexualise any outfit and, if chosen carefully, will definitely get you your money’s worth. Wear them to a party. Wear them to lectures. Wear them in the bath. Whilst you might be horrified at the thought of eating into your overdraft, you’ll be pleased to read that the rest of Issy’s outfit is actually very reasonable. We picked up the vest and skirt (a flattering bubble shape to cover any unsightly bulges) at Cult Clothing for a combined £40, and the cute pink belt and snappy grey jacket (tossed oh-so-casually over Issy’s shoulder) were sourced at the Jemporium Retro Clothing Stall, open for business next to The Cow on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (prices vary but you can get some great bargains).

Bear in mind that grooming is important – greasy, untamed locks and a neglected face will ruin even the nicest outfit . We straightened Issy’s hair and highlighted her already pretty features with a bit of blusher and some smoky eye makeup. The overall look is chicer, more mature and definitely fitting for a budding businesswoman.Guys, if Issy McCann can, so can you.
