Stephen Hawking to appear at Glastonbury
Cambridge professor joins the festival line-up alongside Kanye West
This June, Professor Stephen Hawking will be making an appearance at Glastonbury. He is the latest big name to join the list attending the event, alongside Kanye West, The Foo Fighters, and The Who.
Professor Hawking, aged 73, is set to feature on the Kidz Field, rather than the main Pyramid Stage. The bill also includes magician Dynamo, CBeebies stars, and an Australian musician called Mr Yipadee.
A statement from the festival organisers said: "The Kidz Field at Glastonbury is always a place of magic and wonder, but this year – the field’s 21st anniversary – they’ve really outdone themselves.
"We’re incredibly excited to announce that renowned physicist and mathematician Professor Stephen Hawking is coming to the Kidz Field for a special guest appearance!
"Kidz are also welcoming stars of children’s TV with The Milkshake Live! Stage show and CBeebies favourites Alex Winters and Katy Ashworth bringing a brand new show full of their usual fun, comedy, music and mayhem."
This announcement follows several other recent forays by Hawking into the world of pop culture, including appearances in a Little Britain sketch for Comic Relief, and in a recreation of Monty Python's Galaxy Song as part of Record Store Day 2015.
Glastonbury will take place in Somerset from June 24th to 28th.
