Everything You Need To Know To Win A Game Of Blackjack

Blackjack has been a big hit at the Casinos since it was first introduced in the 17th Century.

The game was originally known as vingt-et-un (French for 21) and versions of the game can be traced back to Ancient Rome.

It is particularly popular in Casinos because the house has a very small edge with this game – meaning the player is less likely to lose money.

You are reading this article because you want to learn how to play Blackjack and most importantly win at Blackjack. We are going to help you do that.

What Is Blackjack?

Blackjack is a card game that was invented in France.

The aim of the game is to get your cards to add up to a total of 21 or as close as you can get. If you go over 21 you automatically fold.

In Blackjack, you play against the dealer, not the other people at the table. Multiple people can have winning hands in one round.

The name of the game was changed at the start of the 20th century when American gambling houses introduced an extra jackpot for players. Plays would win extra money if they played the Ace of Spades with either black Jack card.

How To Play Blackjack

At the start of each round, the dealer deals two cards to every player and then two to themself. They flip over one of their cards so everyone at the table can see it.

People will then be offered the chance to take a third card in turn. People can then choose to take an extra card if they want to and haven’t gone bust.

If the total of the player’s hand goes over 21 then they have gone bust and must fold. If the dealer goes bust, any player who hasn’t gone bust beats them.

The players will then reveal their cards. If the player has 21 exactly or is closer to 21 than the dealer they win.

All cards are worth the number on them. Aces are worth 1 or 11, holders choice, all face cards are worth 10 points.

4 Blackjack Tips

#1 – Know The Dealer’s Odds

On average, the dealer will have cards worth 17 or above.

If you have an 18 or higher it is worth sticking, as you will win most of the time.

If you have a 16 or lower it is best to take another card. You may go bust, but you are also likely to lose on a 16.

If the dealer has less high than a 9 on their visible hand, then it is worth taking an extra card.

#2 – Split Double 8s

If you get a double in Blackjack you are allowed to split your hand.

However, the only set of doubles that is actually worth splitting is a pair of 8s.

16 is the worst hand you can get in Blackjack, it is too low to win the average round, but high enough that the possibility of you going bust if you take another card is hard.

You will have a lot better chances of winning the hand if you split the 8s and take another card or two.

No other pair is worth splitting.

#3 – Know The Best Hands

We all know by now that 21 is the best hand in the game. 20 is the second-best hand. But, 19 is not the third-best hand, 11 is.

Because with an 11, you can take another card without risking going bust. You also have a much better chance of getting exactly 21 with 3 cards when you have 11.

After 11, the next best hands are 19 and 18.

There is some debate about whether 12 or 17 are better hands. 17 is enough to draw with the dealer, if you do, you get your money back but you don’t win anything.

#4 – Practice Before You Play For Money

Outside the blackjack casino, you would never try to win money by doing something you have never done before. So, why do we think that we can join a Poker or Blackjack table with no experience and walk away with heaps of money?

If you are serious about getting good at Blackjack then you have to treat it like any other skill and practice. You can guarantee the dealer will be well-practiced, so if you want to beat them you need to put in the work.

Where To Play Blackjack

There are two main places you can play blackjack if you want to win money – at a live Casino or at an online Casino.

If you play Blackjack in person, you will have to remember not to drink too much and to take regular breaks to refresh your mind.

We recommend that you play online as there are so many benefits. You get a lot more choices about when you play and what kind of game you want to play. You don’t have to pay Casino prices for food and drink and you don’t have to leave your living room.

Please gamble responsibly.
