North London trio, Man Like Me, were originally booked to play the main stage, supported by Clean Bandit. However, the ball committee was left searching for a new headliner when the group unexpectedly dropped out this week.

Speaking to Varsity, committee member Toby Hayward-Butcher said: "Unfortunately, despite having been paid and contracted, one of the headline acts of the Robinson May Ball, Man Like Me, have withdrawn from the ball with only a week to go. We were not given a firm reason for this, only that it was due to "other commitments". From the band's twitter feed it appears they have decided to play a gig at a pub in Dalston that evening instead...”

The Yorkshire based band released their 4th album earlier this yearRyanUK83

Addressing why the last minute switch was necessary, he said: “There was literally nothing that could be done. Contracts were signed and payment had been made. We will be seeking legal advice over this matter but do not wish to make any further statement on this now.”

However, after a “very stressful few days”, Hayward-Butcher said the committee was “delighted to announce that the Robinson May Ball will now be headlined by The Pigeon Detectives”.

Responding to the change third year, Katerina Pascoulis said: "It's awesome, I didn't know who Man Like Me were anyway."
